So yeah, it’s been a long time. And I shouldn’t have left you…without a funky beat to step to.
…. Ok, that was a lame joke. But seriously, thanks to you random fans that are still hanging around, waiting for me to get my shit together so that I deliver more steady doses of nonsense. I’d like to let you all in on what changes are going down this month.
1. I will be writing a story or two every month on music events happening around town for www.pedestriansguide.com, so if you like my “conversational” writing style, then you’ll be able to get more of it there.
2. I’ve come to the decision to focus my music writing efforts on game remixes. I just got a boatload of new soundbanks and I want to get back to where my music composition hobby began. So, I am taking requests and if I don’t have any, I’ll be working from the backlog of requests at ocremix.org.
3. Me and twinks will begin working on a fansub of a very popular anime series. More details on that, as well as a possible teaser, as the month progresses.
4. Since I will be writing on music events, I will start ACTUALLY USING THE EVENTS SECTION OF THE SITE! (who knew!)
5. Ringtones? RINGTONES!!! I’ve gotten more than a couple ringtone requests over the last few months, and this month I will actually start fulfilling those requests!

You know what is awesome? Gaining subscribers and followers because of something you wrote on your blog. Never experience this? Neither had I until today. But now I’ve got some new people paying attention to what I do on various websites and it’s because of the posts here. That’s just flippin sweet. So yeah, next time you’re thinking, “hey, why doesn’t anyone follow me?” just pay for a website, upload so downloadable content, put up a video or to, and then blog about it. Easy-peasy right?
It has been said that the internet is for porn. I disagree. The internet is for spam. SPAM SPAM SPAM!!! For the first four months of having this site I have gotten nothing but spam in my email, spam in my forum, and spam comments. So, ya know what. I stopped checking them. I also stopped caring about making regular updates to the news feed or adding more videos or downloads cuz…why bother? Providing a regular dose of nonsense for bots is hardly appealing. But now I feel shamed. I started going through the *cough* couple hundred *cough* comments. And although there is still WAY WAY WAY too much spam…there are actual comments…from actual people…WHO ACTUALLY FOLLOW MY WORK!! Whiskey Tango Foxtrot! (wtf…in case that one went over your head) Anyway, this is an official apology to the few of you who are subscribed to my RSS feed, who check this site regularly, who wished I was more consistent. I here and now am making a New Years Resolution (a little late…I know) that I WILL be consistent. I will work hard to insure that you will be able to enjoy a regular dose of nonsense! So, yeah…that’s about it. Now, if you’d excuse me, I still have 49 comments to check.
So, it hurts enough that no one follows me on twitter. Yeah, I said it! I sucks balls!!! But, what hurts more is LOSING followers because of circumstances that are beyond your control. And the story goes like this:
Last week I received a reason to live via twitter. Some chick asked me to remix her song. CHALLENGE ACCEPTED. So, I got to work immediately…and subsequently hit some roadblocks immediately. First off…she never sent me a link. Fixed that problem. HELL YEAH, I’MMA BAUZ! Next…she picked a slow Brittany Spears song. SIGH…I can work around that. Thirdly, her voice isn’t…the greatest. Ya know what, I turned that Kim Kardashian song into an ok song….and her voice isn’t THAT bad. Harder still, the audio sample is poor quality. But beggars can’t be choosers right? Well, finally, do to a change in my work schedule and a change in the schedule of the ride I take to work, I haven’t seen my computer since Friday morning and if I see it tomorrow I’ll be lucky. ….fuck. So, since it’s been a week and I haven’t delivered, I’ve now lost a follower. I am disappoint.
This is a serious question! I've gotten a few emails from people asking me to post more videos and post more songs. And, even tho that's totally awesome, it makes me wonder why I have so few followers on soundcloud.com and twitter. Did you know that I'm on soundcloud.com? Did you know that I upload songs that you won't hear anywhere else but there on soundcloud.com? Did you know that I don't use twitter alot because nobody follows me? Seriously guys, if you want me to be more consistent, let me know you care! Click the like button on youtube! Send me a tweet on twitter! Comment on a song or two! I want to make sure that I keep providing you all with your regular dose of nonsense, but the feedback and interaction helps me know you're liking what I'm doing. Otherwise, I think you guys don't like it and I stop. And then you get mad at me….SEE WHAT A VICIOUS CYCLE THAT IS!?!?!?

ADVENTURE TIME!!!! Or at least time to talk about it. So, apparently the latest buzz comes from the recent episode "Holly time" (or sweater time).
*SPOILER ALERT* (in case you follow the show)
This Christmas special has a series of clips from the Ice King's personal video collection. Besides the weirdness of him cosplaying Bubblegum or Marcillene, one of the clips is concerning the potentially destructive powers of his crown. The Ice King's slow decent into madness is actually incredibly intriguing and well thought out. It makes you wonder if the crown helped him survive the nuclear apocolypse…or possibly if the powers of the crown helped cause the destruction.
Why am I talking about this? Well, because Twinkles is the founder of a club on deviant art which is focused on Adventure Time. And quite frankly she hasn't shut up about it.. Oh snap! She's looking over here! Time to end this post before she breaks the laptop in anger.
That's right, I effin' said it. If you can't improv, you aren't a real performer. Why do I say this? Well, for one, back in my youth, I was known for regular impromptu skits and musical-ness… But I was reminded of how awesome improv is while in the local guitar center this a few days ago.
I'm looking around because I need a new microphone, and new keyboard, and a guitar string (I'm pointing these out because…ya know…I still need them [hint hint]). Next thing I know, I'm walking smack dab in the middle of a good ol' fashion freestyle between a local artist and some high school students. I turn on a keyboard and start playing a couple chords to make the flow. And it was awesome. The beat was great. the flow was great. I forgot how amazing that is to jam with complete strangers. AND I DIDN'T EVEN DO A GOOD JOB! Yeah, I was the square, old, dated, unhip guy. The real talent was the others. But it didn't matter cuz it was fun. and those experiances are the experiances true performers live and die for. That…and being on stage in front of a sold out crowd. Anyway, if you are a musician, comedian, actor, painter, whatever you are, you better get out there and hone your skills. Improv! Be spontaneous! if you're not, then you're missing out…you're also just a fraud.
True talent is tested and perfected on the street, not in the studio.
Yeah, I know. I was all like, "HEY! I've got all these new vids to upload!" and then I was like, "HEY! I'm not uploading any videos, and here is a crappy Xtra Normal video about League of Legends." For this I am sorry. We've been basically compiling all the data from the last year to get a better understanding of what you people like and what we can get better at. But we are now finished! Starting next Friday, there will be a random uploaded to our youtube channel. Also every wednesday we will be uploading a song that was created during the OHC (one hour music competition). The website will now get a new post everyday, so for those of you who enjoy reading my rambling, you're welcome. Also, with any luck we will also be upload a SECOND random video every Monday…but I make no promises. The moral of the story is the team here has been gearing up and is now ready to make sure that every week you're able to get you regular dose of nonsense from us here at the VA Brew. ….or at least that’s how it played out in my mind. Moral of the story, Mr. Sinister has now been elevated to the level of ULTRA GLOBAL MODERATOR! Which is only a hair below the level of omnipotent administrator. Currently, he’s cleaning up the forums late at night, trying to make them more usable. So, a fair warning to all spammers…if you are posting spam or advertising your stuff on the forums there is a good chance you will be either banned or deleted all together, depending on the mood of Mr. Sinister…so good luck with that.
